Description
This vintage 1980 M.J. Hummel annual collector plate, titled “School Girl,” is the tenth issue in the long-running annual series produced by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in West Germany and based on the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. The hand-painted porcelain plate features a raised bas-relief scene of a young girl on her way to school, dressed in a blue sweater and red skirt, carrying a gray school bag and a small basket, with a simple school building shown in the background. A ring of incised stars decorates the cream-colored border, and the year “1980” appears in red at the lower front. The reverse bears the Goebel trademark, M.I. Hummel signature, and model number HUM 273, and the plate includes the original presentation box. It measures approximately 7½ inches in diameter and remains in good overall condition with light, age-appropriate wear.
