Description
Vintage 1978 Goebel M.I. Hummel annual collector plate, the eighth edition in the celebrated annual series produced from 1971 through 1995 and based on the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Officially titled “Happy Pastime” (HUM 271), this hand-painted porcelain plate features a softly sculpted bas-relief scene of a young girl seated beneath a tree branch, peacefully knitting while accompanied by a small blackbird, creating the three-dimensional detail characteristic of early Hummel annual issues. The year “1978” appears in red at the lower front along with the embossed M.I. Hummel signature, while the reverse bears Goebel factory markings confirming production by W. Goebel-Porzellanfabrik in Rödental, West Germany (TMK5 period). Measuring approximately 7½ inches in diameter and accompanied by the original blue Hummel presentation box, this collectible plate remains in good vintage condition with light, age-appropriate wear.
