Description
A Goebel M.J. Hummel miniature collector's plate, model Hum 745, titled 'Little Sweeper' (German: 'Kehrliesl'), the first edition in the four-part 'Little Homemakers' series issued from 1988 to 1991. Produced by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in Rödental, West Germany, the plate measures approximately 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter and features a bas-relief design of a young girl in a red headscarf and green clover-patterned dress sweeping with a brown broom, rendered in hand-painted matte bisque porcelain. The mold was created by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek, with a copyright date of 1986 and a production date of 1988. The front bears the incised facsimile signature of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, whose original artwork inspired the Goebel Hummel line beginning in 1935. The reverse displays the Goebel TMK-6 ('Missing Bee') trademark, used between 1979 and 1991, along with a hand-painted decorator's mark consistent with the factory's artisan identification practices. The design corresponds to the existing Hummel figurine Hum 171. Accompanied by its original 'Little Homemakers' series cardboard box. The plate exhibits minor scuffing and dirt accumulation along the underside rim; the box displays wear, corner fraying, and creasing consistent with age and handling.
