Description
A M.I. Hummel annual collector plate, model Hum 291, titled "Come Back Soon," produced by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in Rödental, Germany. Originally modeled by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek in 1983 and issued in 1995, this plate is the twenty-fifth and final edition in the M.I. Hummel Annual Plate series, inaugurated in 1971 to commemorate the centenary of the Goebel factory. The bas-relief design depicts a young boy climbing a fence clutching a letter, accompanied by a bee, rendered in hand-painted earth tones with red accents on a matte cream ground. The front bears an incised "M.J. Hummel" signature at lower left; the verso carries the blue printed Goebel text logo with the TMK-7 crown mark — reintroduced in 1991 to mark German reunification — along with bilingual edition text, a 1990 copyright date, and the 1995 issue year. The pierced foot rim on the verso accommodates a hanging wire. Diameter approximately 7½ inches. Accompanied by its original presentation box. In good condition with normal signs of wear; no chips or cracks observed. Box exhibits minor shelf wear and scuffing.
