Description
An antique match safe or vesta case, featuring ornate, repoussé floral and scrollwork designs. Match safes were popular from the 1870s to the 1930s as a portable, protective case for matches. German silver, also known as nickel silver, is a metal alloy composed primarily of copper, nickel, and zinc. Despite its name, it contains no actual or elemental silver; the name refers solely to its silvery-white appearance. This alloy was a popular and more affordable substitute for real silver due to its durability, strength, and resistance to corrosion and tarnishing. 2 1/2" L x 1 1/2" W Good condition.
