Description
Two framed historical photos. The first shows a mule team crossing a suspension bridge over the American River near Auburn, California, likely the Kaibab Suspension Bridge. The concrete arch bridge in the background is the Mountain Quarries Railroad Bridge, built in 1912. The suspension bridge was later replaced or upgraded as part of infrastructure development. The second historical photograph, shows a prospecting outfit leaving a town. The image depicts several men with pack burros loaded with supplies, a common sight during the mining era in the American West. The text on the photograph says "Auburn Cal 1849". The burros are ancestors of those left behind by miners and can still be found roaming freely in places like Oatman, Arizona, today. Both have wood frames. 17” x 14” Good condition.
