Description
A framed copper or bronze bas-relief plaque depicting the martyrdom of Saint John of Nepomuk. The original bas-relief is located at the base of the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk on the Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic. The scene shows the saint being thrown from the bridge into the Vltava River on the orders of King Wenceslaus IV in 1393. Tourists often touch the panels of the original plaque, believing it brings good luck and ensures a return trip to Prague, which has polished the relief to a shine over the years. This is a replica or souvenir version of this famous historical and religious artwork. 14" W x 19" H Please note: there are three small protrusions caused by denting at reverse-side.
