Description
A double plane iron assembly, which consists of a cutting blade and a cap iron (also known as a chip breaker) held together by a screw. This assembly is a key component of a woodworking hand plane, used for smoothing and shaping wood. The primary, longer piece is the plane iron or blade, while the smaller piece secured to it is the cap iron/chip breaker. The cap iron helps to stiffen the blade, reduce vibration or "chatter," and curl the wood shavings upwards, which helps prevent tear-out when planing against the wood grain. 7 1/2" L x 2" W Good condition.
