Description
A vintage decorative plate made in Taiwan in the Imari style, likely produced in the mid-to-late 20th century. The original Imari porcelain originates from Japan. The item was manufactured in Taiwan, as indicated by marking at underside: "Made in Taiwan Rep. of China". Ceramics production in Taiwan expanded rapidly into porcelain production around the 1970s. The plate features the traditional Imari style which is a Japanese aesthetic known for its vibrant palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gold accents, often depicting floral motifs and geometric patterns. While the original Japanese Imari was exported from the port of Imari starting in the 17th century, the style was widely copied in other regions, including China and Europe, to meet high demand. 14 1/2" W Good condition.
