Description

A vintage Chinese porcelain snuff bottle featuring hand-painted figural decorations in the famille rose palette. These bottles were popular from the Qing Dynasty onwards and vary widely in age and value. Snuff bottles were used for holding powdered tobacco in China. It has a hand-painted porcelain body with a stopper, which is a jade or glass-like material. The bottle is decorated with detailed, polychrome scenes of figures in a garden setting, typical of the famille rose style which uses a predominant pink enamel along with other colors like green, yellow, and blue. Similar items are often dated to the 19th or early 20th century (Republic period), though antique pieces from the 18th century exist and are significantly more valuable. 2 1/2” x 1 3/4” Good condition.
