Description
An antique Columbus hunter-case pocket watch, likely produced between the 1880s and early 1900s by the Columbus Watch Company. The company operated under various names in Columbus, Ohio, from 1874 until its acquisition by the South Bend Watch Company in 1903. This is a "hunter" style case, which features a hinged cover that protects the crystal and dial. The decorative engraving is characteristic of American-produced pocket watches of that era. The watch features a white porcelain or enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers, "spade" style hands, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. Columbus produced watches with varying jewel counts, ranging from 7 to 25 jewels, many of which were considered high-grade and suitable for railroad time service. 1 1/2” x 2” Good condition.
