Description
An Elgin open-face model pocket watch, identifiable by the name "Elgin" on the dial, which was a common feature until the late 1960s. It appears to be an antique or vintage timepiece, likely from the late 19th or early 20th century, a period when Elgin National Watch Company was a major American watchmaker. It hasa white dial with black Roman numeral hour markers and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position, a common style for their watches. The case has a textured, reeded edge and appears to be a silver-toned metal, possibly coin silver, "silverode," or base metal, as Elgin cases were often made by third parties like the Illinois Watch Case Company. 3” x 2” Please note: The watch crystal is cracked, and the dial shows signs of wear and hairline fractures.
