Description
A Louis XV style fauteuil, a type of open-arm French chair known for its elegance and comfort. The style originated in the mid-18th century during the reign of King Louis XV and is part of the Rococo movement. The chair has flowing, sinuous lines, typical of the Rococo period. It features S-shaped cabriole legs that curve outwards and inwards in one continuous motion, ending in a delicate scroll foot. The mahogany frame is hand-carved with naturalistic motifs, such as leaves and flowers, seen along the top rail of the backrest, arm supports, and legs. The seat, back, and armrests are covered in a light green silk fabric with a decorative pattern of butterflies and floral/leaf motifs. 37.5" H x 24.5" W x 22" D Good condition.
