Description
A Chinese enameled milk glass snuff bottle with a "Gu Yue Xuan" (古月軒) mark on the base. The mark translates to "Ancient Moon Pavilion," which was a famous studio that produced fine porcelain and glass for the imperial court in the 18th century. The bottle is made of milk glass (opaline) and is decorated with bright enamels. It features a hand-painted scene of children in a landscape, a common motif on such bottles. While the "Gu Yue Xuan" mark is associated with 18th-century imperial wares, many similar bottles with this mark were produced in the late 19th or 20th centuries, particularly during the Republic period, as a stylistic homage. 2 1/2" H Good condition.
